Blogger Breakfast

  • Jun. 10th, 2009 at 10:01 PM

I have been home from Bead & Button for three days now, and am still very exhausted. I got most of my stuff put away, and have been working on cleaning the house and studio up. I still don't have a lot of energy to write or take pictures of new stuff, so I am just going to steal blog material tonight. *wink* First, a picture from the Saturday morning Blogger Breakfast! These are some of the fine designers and bead makers that I write about each Sunday in my Extra Extra posts! Starting from the left: Andrew Thornton, Heather Powers of Humble Beads, Diane Hawkey, Me, Katie Hacker, and Linda Augsburg. Thanks to Andrew for the picture and the links (stole it from his blog) Also in the last couple of days, Andrew wrote a touching post about the highs and lows about doing these big conventions. I can really relate... they can be wonderful and creatively fulfilling and full of great energy, but there is sometimes a big crash when coming home, even if the show was great. I am probably experiencing a little of that, mixed with fatigue, and sore muscles from all the heavy work lately. It's a strange feeling, as I am very creatively stimulated and have a ton of ideas, but have a hard time getting motivated to work on them, because the body and mind so tired. Ah well, the ideas will not go away, they are just churning around, and this sleepy state is temporary. Stuff to do... must carry on... that's it for tonight.

a pain that I'm used to...

My head is swirly like this candy cane inspired bead. It's new on the Lucky Candy page of the Earthenwood site. I listed it as the first of more to come, but to be honest I don't know exactly what else I will add to this line of chunky candy pendants. But I know something will happen, so I left space for it...

Hooray for Peter Pumpkinhead!

Above, my Boo Bottle project, from the October issue of Simply Beads Magazine. It is a fun piece, and a neat idea...decorating the cork from a bottle with beads to make a decorative gift. Great way to recycle too! Making home decor items and gifts is really popular with beads now.

Quick post this morning while I wait. Waiting for the caffeine to kick in, the pain medication to jump start, and my kiln to cool. At least I have new beadies to look at today. I glazed the above new bisque Spookyheads! There is a tiki guy, some day of the dead skulls, a voodoo doll head, goblin, and maybe an alien.

Here is one finished winged bat. I am pleased with him! This isn't the body I showed the other day in bisque form, that one is below. I only made one set of wings. I didn't think I would like the one above, with the little homer simpson muzzle mouth, but I do! I need another set of wings in black and white for the other bat body below. I believe I will offer both.
