Lust for Life

  • Jan. 17th, 2008 at 12:29 PM

Ok, so today is another day of posting a title and song that doesn't actually fit my current mood, but that I hope I will grow into at some point during the day, lol! I had my Punk Rock Fitness class last night, and it was fun yet grueling. I am not as sore as I thought I would be...I was sore in the middle of the night last night, and may be again later. It made it much easier to work out while listening to cool music. There were lots of bands I never heard before, local bands, plus some more old school punk and alternative songs. The instructor was encouraging and pushed us, but I didn't feel judged for doing it a bit more low impact. I didn't want to kill myself...I am not in great shape.

Hunting for Witches...

Kind of a picture heavy, but quick post today. This morning, I slept in a bit and did my Art Bead Scene thing and photographed some beads for the Etsy shop, shown here. I realized that I didn't have any more fairy beads on Etsy, so I bundled up the ones I had in stock with some matching accents and charms and links and listed them.

Oi to the world and everybody wins!

"But then Haji saw the north star shining more then ever
So he made a tourniquet from his turban saving Trevor
They repelled down the roof with the rest of the turban
and went back to the pub where they bought each other bourbon"

Every scratch, every click, every heartbeat

The party last night was fun, not the usual maddening blow out that these hosts usually have, probably die to their recent housewarming party about a month ago. Fine by me, actually, the smaller the better. I was sad to hear upon arriving though, that our dear friends from Chicago were not going to be there because of a death in the family, so they are deep in my thoughts today. I had so looked forward to seeing them. *hugs* if you are reading, my friend.

This group of people is filled with musicians and music lovers, many of whom are in the industry. It was really fun to talk with them about music, because as you may know I am really inspired by music and have been thinking about that a lot lately. We spoke with one couple who started a small record company this year. An actual vinyl record company! How cool. Also there was much talk about the good old days of music videos and how people like me who first started listening to pop music in the 80s really link music and videos. It was neat to find out that I am not the only one who misses that and who tivo's late night videos too.

Today I posted a rare Ms. Bead-It-All post over on Art Bead Scene. That's something I want to develop more in the new year, I really like the format, even though they are a bit time consuming. The theme is quick jewelry that you can whip together for a party using commercial chain and art beads.

Here is an example of one of the quick ideas: I just cut a commercial gunmetal chain in the center and linked each side to an
Earthenwood Studio Message Stick Link with jump rings. Then I used another bit of chain to link down and across from the bottom of the link, stringing on a little sparkly CZ drop to slide back and forth playfully. I used a whole chain for the necklace part, and cut up a piece of an extra chain for the drop, but you might be able to do this with one chain if you desire a shorter necklace. Super quick and sparkly to boot!
Speaking of parties, we are off to one tonight. Going to see some friends and stay out late and probably eat and drink too much. It will be fun though. Before we go, I need to wrap a few last minute gifts myself, and finish editing and listing some message stick sets for the Etsy shop. Today's song, because I enjoyed digging into my old school Elvis collection yesterday, is "Party Girl". Check out this wacky video with that goofy portrait and the lyrics.

Chilly Hands?

Wow, yesterday was busy. I had my shipping issues, but worked through them and was able to ship 14 packages! YAY! I always feel a great sense of relief when I drop my packages off at the post office. After that, I did some craft supply shopping, grocery shopping, and even a little christmas shopping! I dropped by Catching Fireflies, like i do every christmas, and I always find some great gifts for my mom and the other ladies on my holiday list. So yay! I came home and did some glazing and loaded a kiln, with some orders and stuff needed for press submissions. I was TIRED after all that. Ate some dinner and conked out on the couch watching trash tv.

So above is a cute free project I wrote for Art Bead Scene, some beaded mitten clips. I have them on my coat now. I tend to lose mittens and gloves, like a little kid, so I thought they would be a good idea to have. I also added soem parts, buttons, and beads used to make them to my Etsy Shop

And yesterday's earrings are completed! 124 pairs, all boxed and labelled and ready! sweet!

New safety pin brooch thing that I am excited about making! The pin part screws off so you can put beads on it. I have had a love affair with safety pins as fashion accessory all my life.

Who can it be knocking at my door?

Above, the very adorable first elf fairy bead! It is my first male or at least androgynous fairy bead. The others are so girly! I don't know what took me so long, he's so cute. I think I need to make a couple more to make sure it is not a fluke, and then add him to the catalog.

I recently got a new book in the mail that I wanted to tell you about. I discovered it at Faerie Con, when the folks at Faerie Magazine showed me an article about it.
